Windows 10 Coming This July 29, 2015

So I got the confirmation email today regarding my reservation of the Windows 10 upgrade available starting July 29, 2015. A few days ago, I got a pop up notification on my taskbar on how to get Windows 10 upgrade for free.

Windows 10

Yes, it’s a full version of Windows 10, not an upgrade, and it will require 3 GB of download space. Among the features of Windows 10 includes:

  • Designed for speed and ease – Windows 10 starts fast, resumes fast and comes with more security features. It will also have an ability to snap up to 4 things on the screen at once.
  • Amazing new features – including Cortana (personalized digital assistant), all-new browser and built-in apps like Photos, Maps, Messaging, Music and Video
  • Apps, Games, Films and Music – new features available from the Windows Store.

I wonder why Microsoft skipped the Windows 9 and just proceeded with naming their latest Operating System as Windows 10. Do they consider Windows 8.1 as Windows 9? Also, Microsoft has a history of 1 OS failing after a successful one. Take Windows XP for example. It’s a successful operating system, followed by Windows Vista, which is considered as a failure. Next came a successful Windows 7 followed by a failed Windows 8. They fixed that failure in Windows 8.1. Hopefully all major issues by Windows 8 and 8.1 are finally addressed in the upcoming Windows 10.

I can’t wait to try the new Windows 10 Operating System.
